Is RealFreeHosting really free?

Yes. Git hosting on our GitLab is free for up to 3 projects per account with 1.0 GB per project. There is no credit card and no time limit as long as a project stays active. Paid servers are optional.

What happens to inactive projects?

After 5 months without a push, merge request, issue or sign-in the owners get an e-mail; after 6 months the project is archived (read-only, still cloneable). Public open-source projects get 12 months. Signing in or pushing reactivates it.

How do I deploy a project to a server?

Pick a project and a plan on the projects page. We create a virtual server with your SSH keys, clone the chosen branch and start it with docker compose or a Dockerfile. Redeploy with one command after each push.

Q: Where is my code stored?

On our own servers in a Hetzner data centre in Germany, operated from the Netherlands, with encrypted off-site backups every night. Private projects are visible only to you and the people you invite.
